The way of the tāntrika

a 6-month immersion

In this immersion, we will delve into the knowledge, practice, and mechanics of Tantra. This immersion is for those at the beginner and intermediate stages. It would also be useful for advanced practitioners to ground their practice and knowledge.

To understand where you are on the spectrum, please read on...

Who is an advanced practitioner?

Instead of speculating, we can turn to well-known texts for the definition of an advanced practitioner.

In the Bhagavad Gītā, Arjuna asks Śrī Kṛṣṇa, "What is the way of one who is situated steadily in wisdom? How does s/he talk? Sit? Walk?

Śrī Kṛṣṇa goes on to give a list of characteristics of such a stithaprajña (one of steady wisdom).

"A stithaprajña remains unperturbed amid chaos and suffering, craving neither for pleasure nor for a different outcome. S/he is free of attachment, fear, and rage, and has perfect control over the mind, having the ability to easily withdraw the senses from sense objects. S/he is moved neither to delight by good fortune nor to dejection by misfortune. Having awakened from a dreamlike existence and transcending the dualities of linear time and space, s/he lives in absolute inner freedom, unmoved by greed, ownership, and other egoistic motives because s/he has attained perfect peace."

~ Summary of 2:55-72 by Saundaryāmbikā

While there are many other definitions of an advanced practitioner in the Bhagavad Gītā, from a Tāntrik perspective, an advanced practitioner operates at the level of Icchā Śakti or Divine Will, having dissolved all traces of individuality and limited will.

Tāntra is a path of rapid transformation...

The Tāntrik path requires the cultivation of a multi-sensory intellectual, emotional, energetic, and somatic network of neural synapses leading to a change in body chemistry, mind states, emotional make-up and extensive de-conditioning.

Such a housecleaning rebuilds a brand new view of the self and the world.
