māṇḍŪkya upaniṣad: Self-Study
The Māṇḍūkya Upaniṣad, the shortest of the most celebrated Upaniṣads deals with the subject of the syllable Oṃ as it relates to the states of consciousness, time, and Self (Ātman).
The importance of this Upaniṣad arises in another - the Muktikā Upaniṣad that is a conversation between Śrī Rāma and Hanumāna. When asked by Hanumāna about the means of attaining salvation, Śrī Rāma declares that the knowledge contained within the Māṇḍūkya Upaniṣad alone is enough. If unsuccessful, one can study the 10 principal Upaniṣads. If still unsuccessful, the student should study the 32 Upaniṣads. If this does not result in liberation, one should study the 108 Upaniṣads that may lead to liberation after death.
This text is the inspiration for the Māṇḍūkya Kārika, a key Vedāntic text authored by Śrī Gauḍapāda, the Parama Guru (Guru's Guru) of Śrī Ādi Śankarācārya.

Participant Experiences of the Māṇḍūkya Upaniṣad...
The Māṇḍukya Upaniṣad immersion has broadened my viewpoint on the concept of truth. Through this course, I have gained a clear understanding of direct awareness practice. Moving forward, I intend to apply these principles to realign myself with the essence of the experience at hand. -Brandi
I feel like taking this course touched me deeply, and was like ringing a small bell in a vast temple, or like dropping a pebble into a still lake. I am, like the space and the water, untouched yet forever changed by it. -Akshara
This Mandukya Upanishad immersion really helped me to connect the Upanishad with what I already "knew" about Yoga and its classical themes. This teaching from Kavitha is so erudite, deep, dense and sensitive that it raises a thrill of awe and gratefulness in my heart! The handouts and commentaries are very seriously made. Her teachings are a lighthouse in my ignorance, an ever present radiance. -Dhruva
This is the best explanation I have ever come upon to understand more of what to stand as awareness can look like. The very logical, and therefore surprisingly “easy” way Kavithaji managed to explain these topics was amazing to me. -June
It raised more questions than I initially had, but this is a good thing. I believe I'll sit with the teachings again and again. My biggest takeaway was the different states, and developing a deeper understanding of Turīya. The thing I'm taking away from this course is - not to hold on so tightly, to ANY of the states. -Tania
