Self-Study: Durgā Sūktam
In this Navarātri-focused course, we explore the Durgā Sūktam, an Upaniṣadik hymn that invokes Durgā as the primordial force of creation and sādhanā. In addition to the correct meter and pronunciation, we will learn the meaning of the hymn as it applies to our daily lives and specifically to our sādhanā. This class includes downloadable materials, including the lyrics and audio recordings of the chant, as well as the video and audio recordings of the class.
“Salutations to Her, who is of the hue of fire, who blazes with the heat and luster of tapas, who is born of fire, and who is worshipped in every deed!”
The Durgā Sūktam is highly revered as a transformational chant, which catapults us out of our ordinary existence into the glorious presence of the goddess. Accordingly, in this class, we will learn not just the superficial meaning of this chant but enlivening it through practice and application in daily life.
