Join us for Shakti Yatra 2019

If you’re looking for a deep dive into Shakti Sadhana, this is your opportunity! Dive deep into sadhana as we journey through some of the most sacred Shakti sites (peethams) in Northern India. The Shakti Yatra will be a time of intense sadhana supported by teachings, poojas, and practice, along with an exploration of the colors and textures of India.

A yatra (pronounced yAH-trAH) is much more than a vacation. It’s a sacred journey where the outer reality of the site fuses with our inner experience of the divine, and transforms us on all levels. To go on a yatra is to embark on a path that is mysterious and adventurous. We return from a yatra changed, not only because of the novelty of traveling to exotic lands, but because we’ve been touched by the grace of the sacred site. This 10-day journey is such a yatra.

Our yatra will begin in New Delhi where we will gather for an opening ceremony before beginning our journey.

The following day, we will fly to Bhubaneswar where we’ll visit the 64 Yogini Temple and Sun Temple.

From Bhuabneswar, we’ll take a quick flight to Guwahati, where we’ll be staying just steps from Kamakhya Temple, the home of the sacred temples of the Dasha Mahavidyas. Here, we will have opportunities to spend time with these powerful deities in sacred rituals, and participate in a private pooja.

After a transformative time in Guwahati, we will fly to Varanasi, the oldest continuously inhabited city in the world. Over the next three days, we will soak in the energy of the holy river, Ganges, and visit various sacred sites, including the Kashi Vishwanath Temple and other Shakti Peethams.

From Varanasi, we’ll fly back to Delhi, where we will embark on a day trip to Kurukshetra, the setting of the Bhagavad GIta. After our day trip we’ll head back to Delhi for our closing ceremony.

Yatra Logistics:

This retreat has been very intentionally designed for those interested in deep practice, and therefore, traditional sightseeing and shopping/free time has not been built into the Yatra schedule. However, there are opportunities to explore India on your own – before and/or after the Yatra.

We will have several informational sessions regarding the yatra for yatris. There is also a dedicated Facebook group for yatris to prepare for the trip, which is accessible upon registration.

The Shakti Rising Self-Study Course is a requirement for the yatra, and is included in the price of the yatra. Access to this course is provided upon registration.

Additionally, the Bliss Meditation Course is highly recommended. A regular practice of meditation leading up to the yatra will be very useful.
